LifeSciKY celebrated its first international lab resident with the arrival of Japan-based Mitsui Chemicals, a milestone that reinforces Northern Kentucky’s growing life sciences sector. LifeSciKY named Centre College student Alexandru David as one of its first Innovation Fellows. David brings a strong background in biochemistry research and entrepreneurship, including work on HIV therapies and mentoring young innovators. Patrick Hughes, managing partner of DBL Law, is a go-to advocate for startups in Northern Kentucky, with a particular focus on the life sciences sector. LifeSciKY hosted Holmes Middle School students for its first Student Lab Experience Day, giving them hands-on exposure to real lab equipment and life sciences careers. LifeSciKY’s wet lab is on the second floor at the OneNKY Center, offering flexible, rentable space for early-stage life science companies. Students explored scientific concepts, bridging classroom learning with real-world application. Simbryo Technologies, a resident company at LifeSciKY, was recognized as a finalist for Innovator of the Year at the 2026 StartupCincy Awards. The recognition highlights Simbryo’s work advancing biotechnology innovation and reflects the continued growth of the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky startup ecosystem. Based at LifeSciKY’s shared wet lab facility in the OneNKY Center, Simbryo Technologies is part of a growing community of life sciences companies building and scaling in the region.

LifeSciKY announced Northern Kentucky University senior Tyler Egloff as its newest Innovation Fellow, a program designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the life sciences industry.
