 LifeSciKY

Garren Colvin serves as Co-Chairman of LifeSciKY and President & CEO of St. Elizabeth Healthcare. For more than 40 years, Garren Colvin has played a pivotal role in advancing healthcare in Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati as part of St. Elizabeth Healthcare, the region’s largest employer with six hospital facilities and 169 specialty and primary care offices across Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana.

A Ludlow, KY native, Garren began his career at St. Elizabeth in 1983 as a student co-op in the finance department. Over the years, he held key leadership roles in accounting, finance, and operations before becoming Chief Financial Officer in 2001, Chief Operating Officer in 2011, and President & CEO in 2015. His leadership was instrumental in the 2008 merger of St. Luke Hospitals and St. Elizabeth Medical Center and the 2010 integration of Patient First and Summit Medical Groups into St. Elizabeth Physicians.

Under his leadership, St. Elizabeth has made significant strides in expanding access to high-quality care, including the opening of a state-of-the-art cancer center and a regional heart and vascular center, which have increased lung cancer screenings by 25% and reduced heart disease-related deaths in the region by 15%. He also led the expansion of services into Southeastern Indiana and guided the health system through the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the community had access to critical care when it was needed most. St. Elizabeth’s commitment to excellence has been recognized nationally, earning the #1 hospital ranking in Kentucky by U.S. News & World Report and a 5-star rating from CMS in 2024.

Beyond healthcare, Garren is deeply committed to community and economic development, serving in leadership roles with the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Kentucky Hospital Association, Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, Prichard Committee, Kentucky Health Collaborative, OneNKY Alliance, BE-NKY, and the Diocesan Financial Council.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Business Administration from Thomas More University and an MBA from Northern Kentucky University.

Why LifeSciKY Matters to Me

I was excited for the opportunity to serve our community and help bring the life sciences lab to reality. This project is a critical step in strengthening Northern Kentucky’s position as a leader in healthcare innovation, and I’m honored to support its development.

Northern Kentucky is the only place for me. The people here are welcoming and caring, making it truly the best place to live, work, and play. The sense of community and commitment to progress make this region special, and I’m proud to be part of its continued growth.
