Chuck Scheper currently serves as the Chairman of LifeSciKY and Chairman of Bexion Pharmaceuticals. With extensive experience in the insurance and financial industries, he previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Great American Financial Resources, overseeing a $20 billion life and annuity company until his retirement in 2010. Prior to that, he was President and CEO of Manhattan National Life Insurance Company and President of Pioneer Financial Services.
A Stage IV non-Hodgkin lymphoma survivor, Chuck’s journey to wellness led him to become active in various cancer-related initiatives, including serving as the National Board Chairperson for the Cancer Support Community. His personal experience with cancer has fueled his dedication to supporting others facing similar challenges.
In 2011, following the resignation of the sitting mayor, Chuck served as the Interim Mayor of Covington, KY, for 14 months. During his tenure, he implemented significant budgetary reforms, including the consolidation of city and Kenton County dispatch services, a cost-saving measure he had advocated for years earlier. His leadership was instrumental in revitalizing Covington’s business district, particularly through his role as Chair of the Catalytic Development Funding Corp of Northern Kentucky and the Covington Economic Development Authority.
In recognition of his contributions to the community, Chuck was honored as a Great Living Cincinnatian in 2025 by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. He and his wife, Julie, have been deeply involved in mentorship programs, notably through Covington Partners (now Partners for Change), where they have positively impacted the lives of local youth.
Chuck graduated from Thomas More College with a degree in accounting, beginning his career as a staff accountant for Price Waterhouse in 1974. He and Julie reside in the Historic Licking Riverside District of Covington, where they continue to contribute to the community’s growth and well-being.
LifeSciKY matters to me because I’ve seen firsthand how access to resources like funding, equipment, and a strong network can make or break a startup. Through my work in oncology clinical research, medtech, and my own healthtech venture, I’ve come to deeply value ecosystems that empower innovation. I’m proud to be part of a team helping life science ideas grow into real solutions that change lives.
Covington is a special place with a rich history, strong sense of community, and a growing innovation economy. My wife, Julie, and I love living in the Historic Licking Riverside District, where we are surrounded by incredible people, vibrant local businesses, and a region that is on the rise.
